N14 Corridor Development

The N14 Development Corridor was identified in the Mogale City SDF as an important linkage with high level development potential. It is the link between the Lanseria Airport in the City of Johannesburg to the north and the Krugersdorp CBD in the south. In the west, it links to Rustenburg Road, and eventually the west coast.

Some of the main features of the corridor include the major intersections of the R512 (Malibongwe Drive), R101 (Muldersdrift/ Beyers Naudé Road), R428(Paardekraal Drive) and the R47 (Hendrik Potgieter Road), the R540, the R563 (Van Riebeeck Road) and the R24 (Rustenburg Road), which provide opportunities for the development of strong nodes (or beads) along the corridor.

Current land uses along the Development Corridor are a mixture of residential and higher order commercial, retail, offices, sport and recreation and public facilities. The Silverstar Casino and Craddlestone shopping centre are situated at the Hendrik Potgieter Road intersection.

Lanseria Airport creates a unique opportunity for this corridor as it is focusing on becoming an Aerotropolis. There is thus potential for airport-related uses to develop along the portion of the route closest to the airport, whilst strategic areas at existing important intersections can support Transit Oriented Development.
