Urban Renewal focuses on development and upgrade projects with an objective of ensuring that that the selected township’s Socio & Economic structures can be rehabilitated, become integrated and be able to sustain their own communities in the long term, economically and otherwise.
Evaton has been selected by the Provincial Government mainly because it symbolizes the reality of black township apartheid history with low economic activity, disjointed spatial plan, deteriorated services and insufficient infrastructure.
MIH Projects has been appointed by the Gauteng Department of Human Settlements as Lead Consultants to project manage the rollout of all activities. The Department, however manages this project jointly with, Sedibeng District Municipality and Emfuleni Local Municipality.
