Refilwe hostel is located in a prominent position at the main entrance to Refilwe Township. It is located in an important node in Refilwe that houses a sport stadium, government offices and a taxi rank amongst others. The hostel is adjacent to the taxi rank, public-park and soccer field. The redevelopment concept of Refilwe hostel responds to the above realities of its environment.
The main objective is to redevelop the existing Refilwe hostel and ensure integration with the broader Refilwe township.
This integrated development will then include:
- 200 residential units – various typologies
- Limited commercial activity – market stalls, complementary retail
- A crèche & communal space
